Saying Goodbye

Wednesday 7th December

I am due to leave Arua and Uganda tomorrow. I am so blessed for the friends and connections I have made and I thank God for them all.

I have been extremely busy the last three weeks. I think I have traveled more miles than most on really bad roads. In the one week, I was in Rhino Camp twice, Bidibidi camp once and Riki – the bones were sore that week.

The diocese had a farewell party for me yesterday. Rev Alice organised it and what made it really special for me was the cooking was done by the girls I had taught. I was very proud of them – along with local food they made chapatis and omelettes and they were beautiful.

Today saw the graduation of the students at Vocational Training Centre. It was also a special day as Richard asked me to help Bishop Collins to present the certificates. Again the girls I had taught cooked and so did I (I made bolognese, which everyone loved).

I have been presented with more gifts. Richard’s present for me was to name the kitchen I have been working in Andrea’s Kitchen – that will be a lasting memorial.

I have a heavy heart tonight as I have been saying goodbye all day and some of the partings were extremely hard. Tomorrow, Canon Issac and Richard are accompanying me to the airstrip for my departure. I pray that God will look after me on the way home and that He will bring me back again soon.
