Monday 13th July – Kajiado

Our journey to Kajiado was long, with a 3-hour wait on the plane before we took off from Heathrow, but all the more time to chat with our teammates from Bray. It was a joy to collect all our suitcases successfully and to meet Maggie and Ronnie on arrival.

We have spent two days at the ACK guest house in Kajiado learning more of Kenyan culture, picking up some Swahili greetings which we are enjoying using, and being made so very welcome by everyone we meet. Winnie the cook has fed us tasty vegetables and meat stews, mandazi {doughnuts} and lots of sausages!

We have been blessed by prayer before and after all we do, and it was wonderful to be commissioned by Bishop Gaddiel in the Sunday morning service at Kajiado Cathedral. We brought greetings from each of churches, and were invited to sing, accompanied by Jonathan on the keyboard.

There has been time to rest and recover from our long journey, to get used to the conditions, which are not too hot but a bit dusty, and to take a walk around the town and experience local life.

Shortly, we will split into our two teams and travel to Oltiasika and Nairobi – we are all excited for what lies ahead…
