Reflections on Ignite

CMSI recently held its inaugural Ignite conference in Dromantine Retreat and Conference Centre, near Newry. It was a hugely positive start to this annual event – and the feedback has been very encouraging.

The main conference on Saturday 24th September saw over 160 CMSI friends and supporters gathering for a day of worship, sharing and learning together. Delegates came from Cork, Coleraine, Sligo, Donegal…and everywhere in between. There was a clear sense throughout the day of the bigger, wider CMSI family being joined together in friendship and community.

The programme included a range of seminars, which focused on each of the countries where CMSI’s Global Partners are working, as well as providing opportunities to explore more general mission issues.

In addition to the main day conference, over 60 residential guests took part in the Friday Extra programme on 23rd September, which included a Service of Communion from the Iona Community and a panel with CMSI staff and trustees. There was even a very competitive ‘Beetle Drive’ for the night owls- an event that’s sure to be repeated next year!

Here’s what some of the delegates have been sharing from the event…

..a very enjoyable and encouraging conference. We really did enjoy the worship and programme, but also the opportunity to meet up with friends and others who are interested in mission and especially CMSI. Well done to all.

I walked away uplifted.

We felt very encouraged by the Conference and the good attendance. Well done to all who had obviously put so much prayer, thought and hard work into planning the programme.

The worship, the speakers, the programme, the way we were welcomed and looked after by the CMSI team and the team at Dromantine was amazing. I left feeling challenged, enthused, encouraged and felt a real presence of God throughout.

IGNITE 2017 will take place at Dromantine on Saturday 30th September – with the Friday Extra on 29th. Further details will be announced in the spring.
