Gillian Maganda, CMSI’s Personnel Coordinator, is currently visiting partners in Albany Diocese, USA, and taking part in their 149th Annual Convention.

Gillian travelled to the convention with a few friendly faces from Down and Dromore Diocese, a companion diocese to Albany, with a mutual heart for mission. Albany, Down and Dromore and Maridi deeply value their three-fold partnership through CMS Ireland.

Rev Laurie Garramone and Rev Alistair Morrison (formerly of Ballyholme Parish) were attending the Convention.

Gillian was warmly welcomed by her hosts to the scenic surrounding of the Convention Centre.

Gillian was able to see first hand how the diocese is involved in social outreach by visiting a Rehabilitation centre on her first day in Albany. She was able to share a global perspective on issues of drug and alcohol abuse and those living in poverty.

This year’s convention is packed with seminars, teaching and worship and the theme is “let your light shine”. Gillian is leading seminars to share news and updates for the delegates about the situation in South Sudan.

We look forward to hearing more from Gillian when she returns at the end of the week.
