Wednesday 25th – Part 1

On Wednesday morning, we headed out of Cairo to see one of the Diocese of Egypt’s ministry projects. Our visit was along the the main Cairo to Alexandria highway, past fruit farms, large villas and desert areas to Sadat City and Harpur Memorial Hospital.

Originally, a small clinic was set-up, which was partly funded by our parish (Drumbeg). In December 2011, a small hospital was opened, which has been slowly growing since then.

We were warmly welcomed by Dr Yusef, who gave us a tour of everything at the hospital. We were touched by his godly humility and his vision; he expressed that his priority was to see the hospital providing excellence in basic, primary health care to anyone in the area. The hospital serves half a million people, a large proportion of whom are young families.

Dr Yusef said that he was very humbled we had come to visit and to see his work. In reality, however, we felt humbled by his amazing care to all who attended and his kindness to all his staff.
