Apply now! Down and Dromore Team to South Sudan 2024

This team is a fresh opportunity for those who have heard about Down and Dromore's CMSI Diocesan link with Maridi, to take part in this flourishing partnership. Being part of a CMSI team involves preparation with your team and bringing back new understanding and insights to share with your diocese, parish and the wider CMSI family.

Where?

A team of up to 8 people from parishes within Down and Dromore Diocese will be flying to Juba, the capital of South Sudan. After an overnight stay there, a small MAF flight will take you to the rural town of Maridi, the centre of Maridi Diocese.

When?

We plan for the team to travel at the end of October 2024, staying in Maridi for 8 days with 2-3 days travel either side. Exact dates will be decided when the team members are confirmed and flights can be booked.

What?

You will get to know Bishop Moses and his team in Maridi. There will be opportunities to visit medical, educational, vocational and theological ministries plus other organisations within the diocese. For this team, Bishop Moses has specifically asked for a focus on children's and youth ministry. You will have the chance to exchange experiences of youth and children's work and be part of facilitating a training programme for children and youth workers in the diocese.

Who?

Anyone who has a heart for children's and youth ministry and is passionate to learn from and serve the Diocese of Maridi. If you are over 18 you can apply. All applicants will be interviewed by CMSI and will be required to have an Access NI check and health clearance.

Please apply here by 5th January 2024

Cost and Commitment: Preparation for the team takes place Jan-April 2024. We request that you attend at least two out of three of the training programmes. The financial cost, which includes international and internal travel, visas, accommodation, food, specialist insurance, CMSI training and support, is £3250 per person. Vaccination costs are not included; individuals are responsible for ensuring that they have received all relevant vaccines for travel. We encourage those who cannot commit to go, to support this visit through fundraising, prayer and interest.
